Cloning

Policy on Cloning 

WHEREAS, society's acceptance of legalized abortion has caused deterioration of the respect for human life and the devaluing of human beings; and

WHEREAS, Colorado Right to Life is committed to promote, foster, encourage, uphold and support reverence and respect for human life without regard to condition, quality, age, race, religion, creed or color, whether born or unborn; and

WHEREAS, some members of the scientific community have come to regard human beings as simply biological entities without unique value and are proceeding with the creation of embryos by somatic cell nuclear transfer (cloning); and

WHEREAS, Human cloning upsets the social order by confounding the meaning of parenthood and confusing the identity and kinship relations of any cloned child *; and

WHEREAS, Human cloning can lead to the reproduction of living or deceased persons, without their knowledge or involvement *; and

WHEREAS, Colorado Right to Life opposes all human experimentation not done for the benefit of the subject, except with the informed consent of the subject; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that Colorado Right to Life oppose the creation of human beings by cloning; and be it further

RESOLVED, that Colorado Right to Life oppose the destruction of any innocent human beings, regardless of condition or stage of development, or the means by which these human beings were brought into existence.
